Drapery The use of drapery can be traced to the days of castles and beyond. We have come a long way since then. Although some of the practical purposes like light control, privacy, insulation as well as decoration are still achieved with drapery usage, the fabrics, styles and designs are ever evolving. The fabric choices are endless solids, textures, tone on tones, prints, jacquards, boucles, casements to name a few. Many people ask what is the best fiber to use? No single answer is correct because what we are trying to achieve determines what fiber may be best. In fact many fibers can be use to create the desired result. One has to take into consideration draping ability, the closeness of the weave, the heft of the goods and other features. Experience is valuable when making these decisions. We have found the discussions that take place before beginning a drapery project are crucial to the success because it is in this dialogue, if the correct questions are asked, that we can identify the goals our customer would like to accomplish. Having been trained to listen helps us to make these determinations.
